Chairperson, Morgantown Department


West Virginia University School of Nursing is seeking a Chairperson for the Morgantown Department.  The School invites applications for this position from qualified individuals who possess dynamic leadership skills and enjoy mentoring faculty members at different stages of their careers. With a 12-month appointment that is 50 % administrative and 50% teaching/research/service, this individual will help shape the mission of the school. The Chair will report directly to the Dean of the School

RESPONSIBILITIES:  The specific responsibilities of the Chair include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Serves, along with the Dean, Associate Deans, Assistant Dean, and Vice-Chairs, as a leader for school-wide planning and policy development for all aspects of the school’s mission.
  • Administers and directs the department.
  • Serves as a role model for faculty in research/scholarship, teaching and service.
  • Recruits and mentors faculty in collaboration with Vice-Chairs.
  • Provides oversights and support for faculty development, and annual evaluations for retention, promotion and tenure. 
  • Shares responsibility with Associate Dean and Vice-Chairs for faculty teaching assignments and formulation of teaching loads.   
  • Supports the School of Nursing program initiatives within the department and the School through external funding.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Earned doctorate in nursing or related field is required.
  • Eligibility for licensure as an RN in West Virginia
  • Demonstrated excellence in administration.
  • Evidence of teaching scholarship sufficient to qualify for a faculty appointment within the Department. 
  • Applicants with experience in obtaining external funding and tenured faculty are encouraged to apply.

 

SALARY:  Dependent on rank and experience.
