CANS was established in 2000 as the research policy and facilitation arm for the American Academy of Nursing (AAN). It is an open membership council, and we welcome all members of the nursing discipline as well as those outside of nursing who are invested in the generation of nursing knowledge. The goals of CANS are to be a strong voice for nurse scientists at the national and international levels to support the development, conduct and utilization of nursing science, to share research findings across individuals and groups in scientific and lay communities, and to facilitate life-long learning opportunities for nurse scientists. CANS National Congress on the State of the Science in Nursing Research Conference: **Save-the-Date** The Council for the Advancement of Nursing Science (CANS) is pleased to present the National Congress on the State of the Science in Nursing Research, a biennial research dissemination conference. At this conference, nurse researchers from around the world will join with recognized experts, funders of nursing research, policy makers, and academic leaders to explore emerging scientific discoveries related to nursing practice and innovation. In addition to submitted individual podium, symposia and poster sessions, next year’s event will offer programming that will include point-counter point, plenary and panel sessions and high-level invited symposia by nursing’s most senior investigators.
