  • Grant Writing Workshop
    • Duck-Hee Kang Memorial Mentored Workshop For Early Career Nurse Scientists (Annually)
    • This workshop provides an opportunity for research mentoring between senior research nurse scientists (faculty) and competitively selected doctorally prepared (PhD, DNSc, research doctorate) early career nurse scientists (postdoctoral and new faculty) (participants). The one-day workshop sponsored by the Early Career Special Interest Group of the Council for the Advancement of Nursing Science (CANS) was held on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 prior to the CANS 2018 State of the Science Congress.

    • Host a bi-annual Virtual Poster Session
  • Podcasts
    • Host 1 Podcast/month specific to the needs of EC SIG members
  • Collaboration
    • Collaborate with the early career groups of the regional nursing research societies to identify current and emerging professional development needs of early career nurse scientists
  • Communication
    • Contribute to an early career column in Nursing Outlook (4 columns/year)
    • Develop a listserv of SIG members to encourage regular communication between annual SIG meetings.
  • Employment Opportunities
    • Display a list of all current, available postdoc opportunities
  • Networking
    • Develop mentor-mentee programming including meet and greet opportunities for early career nurse scientists to meet seasoned researchers at annual conferences
  • Mentorship
    • Develop a database of EC SIG members who would be willing to be contacted by new EC SIG members for career advice and mentorship
  • Professional Development
    • Develop new and enhance current efforts to involve early career nurse scientists in the business of the Council through mentored abstract review for the scientific sessions and membership on committees
    • Identify professional development needs and design educational activities to meet these needs
