2015 Standing Committees

Awards Committee

The Awards Committee will be responsible biennially for soliciting nominations for Council awards, verifying award candidates’ eligibility, and making award recommendations to the Leadership Council. A member of the Leadership Council will chair this committee.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee will review accounting statements and contracts, assist in preparation of the annual budget, and develop financial policies and processes consistent with Academy policies and procedures. The Councilor of Finance and Records will chair this committee, and the Chair and Chair-Elect will serve as ex-officio members.

Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee will be responsible for selecting individuals for appointed Council positions. The past president will chair this committee.

Operating Guidelines, Policies, and Procedures Committee

The Operating Guidelines, Policies, and Procedures Committee will develop policies and procedures consistent with Academy policies and procedures for approval by the Leadership Council and will review the operating guidelines, policies, and procedures on an annual basis to ensure that they are current and include appropriate revisions. The Councilor of Finance and Records will chair this committee.

Program Committee

The Program Committee will be responsible for overseeing all programmatic activities of the Council including conferences, webinars, and other Council initiatives. (The Conference Planning Committees for the State of Science Nursing Research Congress and the Special Topics Conference will be formed from the general membership based on the identified conference theme.) The Councilor-at-Large will chair the committee.The Program Committee has two sub-committees:

Science Committee

The Science Committee will provide recommendations to the Council, Academy, funding agencies, and other key stakeholders to influence national science policy, identify research priorities and issues relevant to knowledge development in nursing and health care, and provide expert opinion on scientific training and career development needs and issues. The Chair-Elect will chair this committee.

2015 Special Topics Conference Planning Committee

The Special Topics Planning Committee guides the direction and sets the agenda of the biennial (on odd years) Special Topics Conference. Committee members help determine conference programming including speakers and select the posters to be presented.

The SOS Planning Committee guides the direction and sets the agenda of the biennial (on even years) State of the Science Congress. Committee members help determine conference programming including speakers, and an abstract review sub-committee selects the posters to be presented.
